UMPSA organised Seminar on Training Methodology in TVET and Innovative TVET Teaching Methods
PEKAN, 9 September 2024 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) with a collaboration of Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) and the Ministry of Higher Education organised a five-day seminar on Training Methodology in TVET and Innovative TVET Teaching Methods starting today till 13 September 2024 at Banquet Hall, UMPSA Pekan.
This programme marks a significant milestone in advancing the discourse on Technical and Vocational Education and Training.
The opening ceremony was officiated by the Undersecretary, International Relations Division, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and UMPSA Board of Director Member, Datin Noorazah Omar.
Also present were the the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Aida Mustapha, Director General, Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC), Dr. Suresh Kumar Dhameja, Governing Board Engaged Faculty Consultant (CPSC), Dr. Kesavan Ulganathen and Director of Centre for Advanced TVET, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Shahrir Mohd Sani.
According to the Datin Noorazah Omar, this seminar is anchored around the theme of transforming TVET through Competency-Based Training (CBT) and this approach underscores the commitment to equipping learners with the precise skills and competencies demanded by today’s dynamic workforce.
“Throughout this event, we will delve into theme paper presentations, interactive workshops, and insightful forums aimed at fostering collaborative learning and innovation in TVET methodologies.
“It is essential to align our efforts with the broader national agenda set by Dasar TVET Negara 2030 and this visionary policy framework aims to transform Malaysia’s technical and vocational education, creating a skilled, resilient, and globally competitive workforce that meets industry demands and drives economic growth.
“Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah, through Pusat TVET Termaju, is taking a leading role in spearheading higher TVET programmes. As a vehicle in realising the higher TVET agenda, Pusat TVET Termaju is focused on setting important standards in TVET education, ensuring that our graduates are prepared to meet industry demands and contribute effectively in the global marketplace,” she said.
According to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Aida Mustapha, UMPSA’s role in advanced TVET education is comprehensive where the university is dedicated to developing cutting-edge academic programmes that not only meet industry standards but anticipate future needs.
“Our approach is holistic, focusing on both the technical skills essential in today’s job market and the soft skills necessary for leadership and innovation.
“By equipping our students with these competencies, we aim not just to prepare them for careers but to shape them into leaders in their respective fields,” she said.
